Supervisory Facility Operations Specialist (Facility Manager)

What are the Major Duties of this Position? The incumbent serves as Facility Manager of the institution and is responsible for the planning, direction, and management of all maintenance repair, alterations, and construction projects. The incumbent manages a workforce comprising civilian and inmate workers. Initiates proposals for improvements, major repair and replacement of institution facilities; evaluates them in terms of operation costs, manpower requirements, structural changes and other engineering principles involved. Makes cost estimates and directs preparation of preliminary drawing and lists of material needs. Makes recommendations as to feasibility of projects and ways and means of carrying them out. Along with all other correctional institution employees, incumbent is charged with responsibility for maintaining security of the institution. The staff correctional responsibilities precede all others required by this position and are performed on a regular and recurring basis. To be considered for the position, you must meet the following qualification requirements:
Education There is no substitution of education for specialized experience for this position. Experience You must have at least one year of specialized experience that equipped the applicant with the particular qualifications to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Some examples of this qualifying experience are:
Ability to read blueprints and make corrections and changes on records for building, grounds, and utilities. Experience analyzing construction and maintenance changes and providing on going safety program to meet the changing needs and security issues. Experience reviewing purchase requests originating in the department to determine the suitability and adaptability of completing them and the maintenance of supplies, materials, and equipment. Experience making periodic inspections and surveys on roadways, buildings and grounds, preparing complete reports as needed on hazardous conditions, utility problems, equipment maintenance and other situations which may cause serious disruption of services. Credit will be given for paid and unpaid experience. To receive proper credit, you must show the actual time (such as the number of hours worked per week) spent in activities. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
