JOB SUMMARY Assists patients in understanding all aspects of their out of pocket responsibility and available options to resolve that responsibility, including, but not limited to, obtaining necessary financial information from insured and uninsured patients who express financial difficulties as a hindrance to obtaining healthcareAdditionally, coordinate receipt and distribution of this information to the appropriate unit, department or vendor to ensure the patient receives the proper care and assistance DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Review financial information with insured and uninsured patients with emphasis on maximizing revenue potential and minimizing financial burden for patients Provide patients with explanations of expected out of pocket costs, including, but not limited to, deductibles, co-pays, co-insurance, non-covered services, and maximum benefits as defined by their plan Discuss options for resolving the patient's out of pocket costs, including, but not limited to, state and federal assistance programs, pharmaceutical assistance programs, financial assistance through the Health System's program, short term payment plans, and extended payments through the Health System's healthcare financing vendor Provide patients with explanations of documentation requirements for the variety of available assistance options, and coordinating the collection and appropriate distribution of those documents to limit the burden on the patient Coordinate patient contact and documentation preparation in conjunction with the Health System's eligibility vendor to facilitate their review process in determining eligibility for state and federal assistance programs Coordinate patient information with the Health System's early out and healthcare financing vendors to ensure accurate balance billing Conduct research into the availability and eligibility requirements for various pharmaceutical replacement, pharmaceutical discount, and co-pay/co-insurance assistance programs offered through pharmaceutical corporations, endowments, grants, etc EDUCATION/LICENSE/CERTIFICATIONS/OTHER REQUIREMENTS Minimum requirement:
High School diploma 2-3 years related work experience Must be able to type a minimum of 35 CWPM Proficient user Microsoft Excel and Word Preferred

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
