Patient Care Tech

JOB SUMMARY The Patient Care Technician (PCT) is responsible for assisting the health care professional by performing various care activities and related nonclinical services.
Provides assistance to the Registered Nurse (RN) and/or the Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) in the delivery of patient care, including caring for the personal needs and comfort of the patient and family unit in a professional, courteous, supportive manner, under the general supervision of the Patient Care Manager or his/her designee.
DUTIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Assists the RN/LPN with non-nursing tasks such as but not limited to crash cart checks, quality control checks, retrieving equipment/supplies, keeping the department clean and stocking supplies.
Assists the RN/LPN with routine patient care and treatment of patients as delegated by the RN/LPN or designee and under the direct supervision of the RN/LPN including, but not limited to vital signs, Intake Output, pain level assessment, administering enemas, applying hot/cold packs, glucoscans, height and weight, transporting, ambulating, answering call lights, cleaning equipment, sitting 1:
1's, receiving patients in room, assisting in pre- / post-operative care, assisting in admission/discharge activities and assisting in treatments.
Recognizes and practices within the scope of certification and competency levels and relays any questions, concerns or situations requiring follow-up or attention to the supervising RN/LPN and seeks assistance when necessary.
Effectively communicate pertinent information on shift-to-shift and transfer reports and documents items in EPIC as indicated.
EDUCATION/LICENSE/CERTIFICATION/OTHER REQUIREMENTS Minimum requirement:
High School diploma or GED and completion of an approved State Registered Nursing Assistant Program such as (SRNA), (STNA), (CNA) or other state.
Holds current certification as a State Registered Nursing Assistant (SRNA) in the State of Kentucky.
Ohio STNA, WV CNA and other State Registered Nursing Assistant/Aide Certifications are accepted if transferred to KY SRNA prior to the hire date.
Achieves and maintains American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Achieves and maintains Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (CPI) within 90 days of start.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS Occasionally required to maintain in a stationary position (standing or sitting).
Frequently required to walk and move about.
Frequently required to operate a computer and other equipment.
Frequently required to use fine motor skills to handle and operate instruments/devices.
Constantly required to lift and/or move items up to 10 pounds.
Frequently required to lift and/or move items up to50 pounds.
Occasionally required to lift and/or move items up to 100 pounds.
Constantly required to communicate with patients and other care teams, requiring talking and hearing.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
Occasionally required to position self in order to meet patient needs.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
